Recently Bastrop, Louisiana Police Jury voted to pass a motion to make it illegal to possess a car,
or trailer in your yard that is not running. You may ask why this is a consern to nudists'. The answer is property
rights. Who owns the property that you paid for. Do you have a choice what you can do with your property. According to
one police juror there is no property rights. What he is saying is that you don't own your property, the public dose. In many
yards we post signs on our property that says Privite Property to protect what is ours and our privicy. Dose the police juror
mean that we have no right to privicy? If you put up a fence can it be declared as junk too? Some of us grow vegetation
for privicy, such as trees, bushes or wooded areas. The police jury now has a motion to make it illegal to grow grass and
bushes. Again this is a violation of property rights and in some cases a violation of privicy. How are they able to get by
with violating our rights? This happens because people either don't care enough, or too busy with thier every day lives to
go to the police Jury meetings. In many cases, people who want to do what they think is right are too quick to say they
want to keep the parish clean before they think about the fact that this effort takes away our rights. On Jan. 2, 2009
there will be a public meeting in the Police Jury meeting room (up stairs) at 5:30 on the motion to make it illegal to grow
vegetation. If the people aren't there to fight it, then the motion will become law. We must be there. Don't let the Police
Jury take away our rights.
